About Us

A New Chapter

Nicholaston Shalom Trust has been established with the purpose of continuing and growing the ministry of restoration, renewal and revival previously developed at Nicholaston House.

People are equipped to flourish in their God–given potential, through receiving his healing and restoring power for their lives (and life wounds) and relationships. We have been seeing growing fruitfulness, healing and transformation in many lives that have experienced deep encounters with God. This has affirmed our ministry Vision to be a vessel for God’s glory that will draw people into a transforming encounter with Father God’s heart, through Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit. God has brought together a team to deliver this ministry and he continues to add ministers of true spiritual depth and experience.

The Journey

Nicholaston House over the past 25+ years has been the home of Christian ministry to those who have sought healing from brokenness or a time of inspiration and refreshment, in an environment characterised by the peace, love and Presence of God. Such places are gems for the work of God, particularly in the present times.
The heritage of the House goes back to the Hopkins, a Christian family who were its original builders and occupiers. Robert Hopkins of a previous generation was appointed an evangelist for Cornwall, by John Wesley. The seam of revival runs through this place!

Under the faithful oversight of Swansea City Mission and Educational Trust (SCM/ET) the ministry grew and developed, impacting many lives, until SCM/ET could no longer fund the running costs of the House or the considerable investment needed to make essential repairs. Sadly, the decision was made to close the House and sell it, in November 2022. This situation remained till early 2025.
Since late 2024, God caught the hearts of the Trustees of Hebron Hall, a significant Christian retreat centre in Dinas Powys (Cardiff), with the vision of his work at NH. With the support of NST, a proposal was put to SCM/ET that would enable Hebron to take over the House, pay off the debts and secure NH for ongoing ministry.

Regrettably, the discussions did not proceed as smoothly as planned. As a result, SCM/ET have sold Nicholaston House to an organisation, which to our understanding, intends to use the facility for housing overseas students. It’s not likely that Christian ministry will not continue at NH, under this new owner. SCM/ET maintain that the money made from this sale will enable them to start new ministry initiatives in Swansea City.

We continue to believe

We will continue with transformational retreats that bring wellbeing for the whole person as well as encouraging discipleship that engages the adventure of following Jesus.

Nevertheless … Nicholaston House was a miraculous provision by God, of one of the primary locations on the Gower for his works of ministry and we believe He has not “finished” with this place.

The evidence we have witnessed of transformational change in people as they’ve encountered the Presence of God in this place, spurs us on! Through over two years of prayer since its closure, God has consistently affirmed that NH is “His place” and the stewardship of NH is to be passed on to others who will continue the work of Christian ministry.

We believe God for this place to continue to be a place for people to encounter God and also to develop as a base for ministry to grow and impact communities beyond our boundaries. Hebron Hall also remain committed to this vision.

Please pray with us to see the return of Nicholaston House to rightful stewardship under God.

We continue to run ministry events at places like Llangasty Retreat House. We’re also exploring ways of reaching out with ministry and teaching through alternative means of communications.

Our key areas of focus are to:

  1. Bring people to encounter the heart of Father God
  2. Establish and grow ministries that support and advance this
  3. Secure Nicholaston House for continuing Christian work and ministry through successive generations
